Graeme Smith
After a corporate career, including 10 years with Ford Motor Company and 8 years in National Sales and Marketing roles, Graeme has spent 15 years owning and operating automotive dealerships, and from 1993 as Managing Principal of Kaizen Consulting Group and Organised Business®.
Kaizen was involved in two connected business activities - the development and delivery of training curricula, and consulting to SME's in diverse industries in Quality Systems, with the aim of certification to an International Standard.
More recently, Graeme's preferred style of client interaction has switched from consulting - providing advice - to coaching via SeniorCoach.biz - asking questions and assisting the client to decide on the most effective solution to business challenges.
Quality System Certification
In June 1994, the 80,000 member Motor Trades Association of Australia awarded Kaizen Consulting Group an exclusive national endorsement in the area of Quality Assurance, as the result of a national tendering process conducted by Price Waterhouse, which attracted 81 formal responses.
Within the Financial Services Industry, Kaizen Consulting Group was appointed by Tyndall Insurance to work with their State Offices and Financial Advisers nationally to facilitate the Certification of their systems to the appropriate International Standard.
Promotional Marketing
For 12 years from 1993, Organised Business® provided Promotional Marketing Services to national and international clients, via an affiliation with Balemar Marketing.
A highlight was our Sydney Olympic Journey, acquiring three SOCOG licenses and being totally responsible for the execution of three diverse opportunities working with national and international corporate clients and retailers.
In brief, the three SOCOG licences entailed:
- Appointment as one of three Official Corporate Providers (OCP), licensed to work with Olympic Sponsors and Supporters to ensure those Olympic family members maximised their return on investment, typically in the tens of millions in licence fees alone.
- Sole responsibility for the Look of the Games and Torch Relay Programs servicing Local Government Councils throughout Australia and Oceania. This entailed the marketing of banners and other merchandise, co-ordination of all manufacturing and physical distribution over the 27,000kms of the Torch Relay route.
- Sole responsibility for the creation, IOC approval, manufacture and distribution of Memorabilia items, including the world first Olympic Torch project.
Business Coaching
Graeme utilises the diverse experiences gained from owning and operating his own business, with his years in Quality Systems and Promotional Marketing, in the role he describes as a Business Relationship Facilitator.

A Lifetime of Learning
If you were setting out to walk through a minefield, would you prefer to back your luck and just start walking, or to follow the footsteps of someone who successfully made it?
Despite completing Accountancy studies, Train the Trainer qualifications, and numerous certificates in Quality Systems, Graeme believes his most relevant expertise comes from his time at the business "coal face" - hence his MBE (HK).
